Gr 4-7-These titles introduce readers to communities of people around the world. With dynamic colorful photos and simple relatable narratives, the authors do an excellent job of painting a clear picture of what life is like in each culture. There are "Did You Know?" insets, biographical profiles, and sections called "Young People," in which the texts focus on what life is like for children. Exploring such topics as architecture, games, food, and beliefs, the books show how each culture is not only extremely far-reaching, but is also constantly changing and adapting. The "Find Out More" page not only gives books and websites, but also suggests places to visit, as well as topics for further research. Great additions that will come in handy during social-studies research projects.Kerry Roeder, Professional Children's School, New York City
