        Grades 4-7 The Quick Histories series (2 new titles) is a bit of a misnomer as its volumes don't skimp on the facts, but rather give a comprehensive overview of important social studies topics. Using a light tone and comic illustrations (often with sight gags and silly banter), the texts introduce the topics in roughly chronological order, include examples from diverse cultures, and highlight important words, phrases, and concepts. A Quick History of Money looks at early bartering, coins, and cash around the world and the development of debt, loans, interest, banks, and the stock market. Later sections describe more modern issues, such as electronic banking, microbanks, cryptocurrency, wealth inequities, and global financial crises. Throughout the series, the author balances necessary background information with fun and timely facts.
