All of the books begin with personalized incidents and stories and then branch out to discuss history, important landmarks, statistics, and the various sides of an issue, all peppered with more individual accounts. The Charlottesville Protests takes a strong, steady look at what happened in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 2017, while explaining the roots of the alt-right movement, and by extension the history of white supremacy and race relations in the U.S. Attractively designed with well-chosen stock photos, these excellent books will certainly be useful for reports; but, perhaps more important, they may well be picked up by readers who want to be better informed about current events?and they will be.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2019, American Library Association.)

With extensive sidebars and peppered with well-captioned color photographs, each volume endeavors to cover all angles, from historical context and origins to coverage and reaction in social media.
