Henry and Mudge stories are always a delight, with Rylant's simple yet eloquent prose providing a variety of adventures and frequently offering help in facing life's more difficult situations--in this case, moving from one's comfortable home to a new and scary one. George Guidall is as consistent in finding the right delivery for these stories as Rylant is at writing them. His effective voices and use of emphasis and tone convey Annie's nervousness, Henry's excitement, and the warmth of their friendship. This is a short, simple book, good for beginning readers and younger children with anxiety over moving. W.L.S. (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine

Cynthia Rylant is a master at articulating moments of great import to youngsters. Her children's books grapple with moments of great joy and concern and bring them to satisfying conclusions. The apprehension of moving day is the topic of this Henry and Mudge adventure. The narration moves at just the right pace for the young listener to follow with the accompanying text and pictures. The characters are crisply differentiated, and there is pleasant but unobtrusive background music. Will Annie find comfort in her new house? Listen in. A.R (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine
