Grades 9-12 A romantic comedy with a bit of bite, Wolf Girl and Black Prince is a shojo manga for fans of Maid-Sama!, Takane & Hana, and Hot Gimmick. When Erika tries to cover up her extravagant lies about a pretend boyfriend with a photo of a cute guy she saw on the street, her lie almost backfires when that cute boy, Kyoya Sata, turns out to be from another class. For a moment, Erika thinks she's in the clear when he goes along with her lie--until he reveals that he expects her to be his personal dog in exchange for playing along! Wolf Girl and Black Prince is all about these two characters butting heads while also starting to develop deeper emotions for each other, which makes for an engaging read. Erika's tendency to lie for the sake of saving face in front of peers is a common issue for teenagers and makes her a relatable character.
