Writing in the soothing voice of a parent addressing a child, Polak presents a highly accessible introduction to aspects of the Passover seder in this holiday board book. Large, close-up photographs of Jewish families accompany the text. “Ding, ding, dong! Your aunts, uncles, and your cousins are here!” she begins, as two siblings race into a home through an open front door. Later, Polak obliquely references Moses (“Daddy tells the best stories. One’s about a baby like you, who grew up strong and brave”) and the hunt for the afikomen (“It’s time to play a game, part peekaboo, part hide-and-seek”), both of which are described in greater detail in a closing note, along with other components of Passover. It’s a warm and intimate look at Passover for the youngest of celebrants. Up to age 3.
